Question: "Can I use Access Sentry to link buildings connected by a LAN (Local Area Network) or WAN (Wide Area Network)?"
Answer: Yes. Access Sentry can be set up to link buildings and computers as well as record data on the network.

Question: "Can I pre-register groups and print their badges out ahead of time?"
Answer: Yes. Groups can be pre-registered and badges can be printed out ahead of time. This allows your organization to look more professional and efficient.

Question: "What label printers can be used to print badges?"
Answer: Any Windows-compatible printer may be used. We currently support the Dymo label printer series.

Question: "Can I use more then one badge design?"
Answer: Certainly. Included with every Access Sentry package is a program called Badger. It allows the user to design as many different badge designs as necessary. All designs are accessible to each workstation on the network. Badger can be used as a standalone badge software.

Question: "What types of reports can the administrator run?"
Answer: Reports can be generated for almost any of the data that Access Sentry records, including certain points of entry, who was logged in, etc.

Question: "Can anyone access data from a workstation?"
Answer: All workstations are password protected, therefore only those individuals who have authorization can access the data.

Question: "How long does the data stay in the system?"
Answer: The system administrator has total control of how long the data is kept on the system.

Question: "Am I required to have to have a server to run Access Sentry?"
Answer: No. Access Sentry was designed to use an MSDE SQL database. This database can reside on any machine on the network. Although it is recommend that a server machine be used.

Question: "What if I only have one place to put Access Sentry?"
Answer: Access Sentry can be easily be set up to run as a stand-alone system.

Question: "I already have an employee database. Do I have to re-enter all the data and employee photos into the Access Sentry system?"
Answer: No. Access Sentry was designed to hook into most ODBC-compatible databases to retrieve employee information. By using the Access Sentry employee database setup form you can access data from most ODBC databases.

Question: "Is it hard to install the product on the computer?"
Answer: No. The development team has worked hard to keep the install and setup of the workstation software as easy as it can be. Simplicity was first and foremost.

Question: "Is Access Sentry easy to use?"
Answer: During the design of the product, the developers worked hand in hand with actual end users. That is why the product is the most user-friendly product of its type. Designed by the end users for the end users.

Question: "I'm worried that Access Sentry won't integrate with my current database system. Should I be?"
Answer: Absolutely not. Access Sentry uses an open database connection (ODBC) that makes it virtually seamless and easy to integrate with almost any ODBC compliant database.

Question: "My front desk staff has very basic computer skills. Will they be able use Access Sentry?"
Answer: Access Sentry is an easy-to-use, Windows®-based program. Its point-and-click simplicity means your front desk staff will be able to master Access Sentry quickly and completely.

Answer: Yes, you get what you pay for, Access Sentry is simply the most competitively priced and complete system of its kind. One other thing, consider what allowing a thief into your building would cost your company.

Question: "What is MSDE?"
Answer: The new Microsoft® Data Engine (MSDE) or an improved version of the default database engine for Access, known as Microsoft Jet. MSDE is an enabling technology that provides local data storage and is completely compatible with the Microsoft SQL Server™ version 7.0 code base. This technology transforms Microsoft® Access from a simple file-server database application into an extremely powerful and highly scalable client-server solution for any size organization.

Question: "What if I already have SQL, can I use the Access Sentry database on an SQL Server?"
Answer: Yes, Access Sentry can also be deployed with a true SQL database.

Question: "What is ODBC?"
Answer: ODBC stands for Open Database Connectivity. ODBC provides a common interface for accessing databases. ODBC has been the data access standard since 1992 and has played a very important role in enabling client/server applications.
